THE UNCOMMON LEADER

Leadership has become one of the buzz words today. People are warming up to the need for good, quality leadership today. It is a fact that without good leadership, nations, businesses, organizations and groups suffer. Nobody goes anywhere without good leaders to show them the way. However, not all leaders are good leaders.

In this short article, I want to help you stand out from the rest and become an uncommon leader. These thoughts will help prepare you for what has been prepared for you.

1. NEVER STOP LEARNING

Seize every opportunity to gain knowledge. This mostly will come out of relationships. Never forget this that, learning will cost you MONEY and TIME. Buy people’s books, CDs, magazines and subscribe to podcasts. Be open to other ideas and embrace contradictions. Some parts of life are a mystery.

Also learn through observation. As you watch great leaders, you will gain invaluable insight and knowledge into leadership.

2. YOUR THINKING MATTERS

How you think about everything is vital on your journey to becoming an uncommon leader. Your thinking can hinder or accelerate your leadership. Learn to think big even in small places. Think about leadership the way God thinks about it. It is not about size, crowds, who is under us and what we lead.

Never be too big or afraid to change your mind. Until you change your mind, you will never change anything meaningful. Remember that sometimes we get it wrong before we get it right.

3. TAKE TIME TO DISCOVER YOUR STRENGTHS

Most people spend al their time trying to improve on their weaknesses. That will shortchange their leadership strength. Learn to improve your strengths and them hire staff for your weaknesses.

Know that you can’t focus on everything, and you can’t do everything very well. Find what you do very well and then find and surround yourself with folk who do other things you are not good at doing.

4. LEARN TO TAKE ACTION

When all is said and done, there is usually more said than done. Most leaders miss great opportunities through paralysis of analysis. As an uncommon leader, your actions must reflect your plans. Be willing to make mistakes, you can’t miss God’s whole program because you made one mistake.

CONCLUSION

You are alive for such a time as this. You matter and the world is waiting to see you lead.
